A SAFE HAVEN
by Kathy Allason

I just have to share this with all of you. About 2 weeks ago while having my morning coffee, I noticed a robin outside my living room window carrying long pieces of grass back and forth from the front yard to near my front door. When I went outside, to my surprise I found these long strands of grass hanging from the side of my silk flower and grapevine wreath that I had made and hung just outside my front door on the house. I watched this activity daily. For about 3 days the clump of hanging grass grew bigger and bigger. Then appeared the starting of a nest being woven on top of the wreath, which took another 3 days to complete. Then I am assuming that the robin rested on the 7th day because there was no more building activity. Then mother robin wasted no time at all to lay 4 beautiful blue eggs in this newly built nest. This pair of robins found their safe haven on my front porch, moved right in and felt the need to redecorate to their liking….. .Funny thing is though, that this pair of robins moved in only about one week after I sent Ms Kitty off to a newly founded home in a dairy farmers barn.
